I know the NFL playoffs are right around the corner because 610WIP Wing Bowl tickets just went on sale! It’s become one of the city’s best traditions and certainly the biggest event in Philly Sports Radio history. Only something of this magnitude, something filled with strippers and fat guys pounding away at buffalo wings could get me out of bed this early on a friday morning and into Wells Fargo Center by 6AM.

As far as I know, the morning team’s Angelo Cataldi came up with the whole concept, inspired by a combination of the Buffalo Bills success and the Eagles continued failure to make a Super Bowl appearance, 19 years ago Cataldi decided to call it the (Buffalo) Wing Bowl in lieu of any other Philadelphia bowls.

And here we are, two decades later, still hungry for the hordes of strippers that swarm wing bowl participants and spectators alike, egging them on and trying to get those post-bowl party dollar bills at their resident clubs. I personally can’t get enough of it and can’t wait til the 2011 Wing Bowl, maybe this year it will be a prelude to another Eagles Super Bowl Appearance?
